A revitalized neighbourhood playground in east Vancouver.
This new playground packs a lot of punch. A colourful palette and plenty of play opportunities complements the existing program of terraced sports fields and pleasant seating areas at this popular and well used city park.
Careful path placement and circulation around the playground was an important consideration in order to allow for accessible travel and to ensure the existing trees on site were retained. The new trees on site will mature to provide additional shade and a visual perimeter to the playground.
The playground’s adjacency to an abundance of flexible lawn space and a view of the ultimate frisbee field will provide plenty of room for families to picnic as well as a great space to watch all of the action. The play space provides something for kids of all ages and abilities and accessibility was of primary concern. A colourful ground plane of rubber safety surface weaves a path through the entire play area. Sand, wood fibre, logs and boulders with their differing textures add to the varying natural and sensory experiences of the play space. The selection of play pieces include:
A roller slide
In ground trampoline
Sand play station
Climber with slide
Spring rider
Swings
Net Spinner
Benches and Picnic Tables
